Flageolet Tools
Le Flageolet I is a small, stratified rockshelter in the Dordogne valley of southwestern France, near the town of Bezenac. The site has important Upper Palaeolithic Aurignacian and Perigordian occupations.

Age: circa 24 000 BP.
Note that Lucas (2002) gives the age of layers 1-3 as 18 610 ± 440 BP.
Layer 4 is given an age of 22 950 ± 500 BP., and layer VIII (see the images below) is given an age of 26 860 ± 420 BP.

Le Flageolet I Layer VIII
Age: Recent Aurignacian.
Note that Lucas (2002) gives the age of layer VIII as 26 860 ± 420 BP.
Note also that the Aurignacian is generally considered to be 37 000 to 27 000 BP on the uncalibrated radiocarbon timescale, and between ca. 47 000 and 41 000 BP using the most recent calibration of the radiocarbon timescale according to Mellars (2006).

Le Flageolet I and IV are defined as being Middle Gravettian (Rayssian) by Eugène Morin, and the megafauna were 94.1% reindeer - Morin (2012)
